My Greatest Gift

My job is one of my most prized gifts and passions. I am able to use all of the facets of my brain as well as share my knowledge. I am a second grade teacher at the best school in the world. I am continually awed in appreciation that I am included in the world of such children. These young scholars are incredibly knowledgeable. For example, one student ran to me after sliding down a circular slide. He exclaimed, “I just realized that I was using centrifugal force when I went down the slide.” He is only 8 years old. Another example is when I corrected a student as he was off task yet again. Hearing the impatient note in my voice, he replied, “I’m sorry, I am a little discombobulated.” I was stunned into silence!

I am also included in Marketing decisions as well as Event and Curriculum Development. My ideas are welcomed and successfully implemented. I am continually encouraged to provide opinions and always thanked for sharing them.

My colleagues are all very intelligent people with a wide variety of interests. They are all voracious readers and enjoy research. Outside of school, l I am often engaged with people who have only “one dot” (idea) on a page. Other times, I speak to people that have many “interconnecting dots” all over their page. Every member of this faculty has interconnecting dots that spill off the page. The best part is that they are easily able to connect with my “dots” which generates even more upward spiraling dots.

I am humbled to be part of such a validating and confirming community. I love my job!
