LA + Teacher Observation
Today, I was observed by a representative from the LA+ organization. It provides support for an arts integrated curriculum. The observer was looking for arts integration, not arts enhancement. My objective was integrating the arts through our spelling lesson. First, we identified the rhyming pattern. Then, students were put into groups to decide on three rhyming words for their poem base. After writing their poem, they illustrated each line of the stanza using cartoon frames. Then, the students wrote a summary story about the cartoon. To further the use of spelling words, the students turned their poem into a song which they shared with the class.
It was a great! She noticed my student’s notes on the wall about which Multiple Intelligences. She gave the class kudos on their conduct. My 30 minute lesson ended at 8:50 on the dot. Now, that was exhilarating!
